The human species has left a wake of terror and destruction wherever it has occurred on the Earth. Scientists have narrowed down the origin of our species to the region of East Africa. From there, our species has literally flooded the Earth, spreading out further and further away from our roots. African animals and plants actually fared relatively well to the new species of human, since they had coevolved for millions of years. However, the other continents were not so well prepared to receive the human species. As humans spread, a mass extinction seemed to follow them wherever they went. When humans first arrived in Australia, for example, there was wide array of large mammals and potential competitors for the new species. Fortunately for Homo sapiens, we were able to outsmart our rival species and eventaully drive them to extinction. Along with this mass extinction of large animals in Australia came the invention of setting fires to clear land for crops. This clearing of native plants led to the loss of many native plants and to the rise of the eucalyptus tree in Australia, a plant that was not very widespread before the arrival of humans in Australia. Although scientists will never be 100% that the arrival of humans caused this Mass-extinction, the evidence shows that it is either a massive coincidence or this event was a direct result of added strains on the ecosystem due to Humans. It is sad, and the same story played out on the American continent as well. As soon as humans arrived the ecosystem went into shock losing a massive amount of biodiversity.

We are on pace to destroy the world. But, it doesnt have to be all bad. It may be our nature to destroy the Earth, but, that doesn’t mean we cant change course. Now more than ever, we need businesses to step up to the plate and help our planet overcome the effects of our lifetsyles up unitl now. There has never been a better time for an entrepreneur to take advantage of this moment and create something that could retard the destruction of our planet. That’s what I plan to do.
